Which is the best choice for graphite sealing gasket

I believe many people are familiar with graphite sealing gaskets and their functions are also well-known. However, there are many types of graphite sealing gaskets, and the application of gaskets made of different materials also varies greatly, resulting in significant performance differences. So which material is better? How to choose specifically?

The selection of graphite sealing gasket material mainly depends on the following three factors: temperature, pressure, and medium. Recommended working temperature should not exceed 538 ¡æ, especially when the medium has oxidizing properties** Thin carbon steel plates are not suitable for equipment used to manufacture inorganic acids, neutral or acidic salt solutions. If carbon steel is subjected to stress, the equipment accident rate under hot water conditions is very high. Carbon steel gaskets are commonly used for high concentration acid and many alkaline solutions. The Brinell hardness is about 120. The carbon content shall not exceed 0.03%. Recommended working temperature should not exceed 760 ¡æ. The corrosion resistance is similar to 304 stainless steel. The low carbon content reduces the precipitation of carbon from the lattice, and the resistance to grain boundary corrosion is higher than that of 304 stainless steel. The Brinell hardness is about 140. All graphite materials that do not contain resin or inorganic substances can be divided into metal doped or metal element free graphite materials. Graphite sealing gaskets can be bonded to manufacture gaskets for pipes with a diameter exceeding 600mm. It has excellent corrosion resistance to many acids, bases, salts, organic compounds, heat transfer solutions, and even high-temperature solutions. It cannot melt, but will sublime when it exceeds 3316 ¡æ. Under high temperature conditions, caution should be exercised when using this material in highly oxidizing media. In addition to being used for gaskets, this material can also be used to make non-metallic winding tapes in fillers and wound gaskets.
